Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema has edge Barcelona star Lionel Messi to a Liga player of the month award.

Benzema was crowned La Liga player of the month award for his tremendous contribution to Real Madrid seven games unbeaten in the La Liga.

Benzema has been instrumental in Real Madrid 100% run since the La Liga return having helped Los Blancos to win seven games in a row a feat that helps them to reclaim the lead in the La Liga race.

Benzema showed great form having scored twice in the 3-0 victory against Valencia and also scored in the 2-1 win against Real Sociedad.

However, Benzema’s starring role in the attack has been recognised by La Liga as the player of the month of June.
