Sampdoria vs AC Milan prediction Preview and Odds

Sampdoria vs AC Milan predictions ahead of this clash in Serie A on Wednesday night.

Pioli leading Milan revolution
When AC Milan pinched Marco Giampaolo from Sampdoria in the summer, it was a turning point for both clubs. It left Sampdoria with a huge gap in their dugout, while it put the Rossoneri under pressure to give him time. That didn’t turn out to be the case, with Giampaolo getting the axe after taking Milan out of top-four contention early on.

However, that’s given Stefano Pioli the chance to turn Milan around. He’s earned a full-season at the club to fix things, which is impressive given that the Rossoneri already had a replacement and a change of approach lined up for the summer. However, they have kept faith with a man who has delivered success, while things could be about to get better. Pioli is unbeaten against Claudio Ranieri in Serie A as a manager.

Rossoneri’s attacking charge
AC Milan has scored 28 goals in 10 games post-lockdown in Serie A, as many as they had scored in their previous 26 games of the season. They’ve been fantastic going forward in recent weeks, with their ability to go toe-to-toe with Atalanta at the weekend and come out with a draw proving how good they’ve become.

The only issue for Pioli is that he can’t seem to fix their defence. Both teams have scored in each of their last six matches. Defensively they’ve had issues all season, with the Rossoneri conceding 1.4 goals per away match this term. Having shipped a goal in 73% of their trips, they could be caught out at the back by Samp.

Milan form sets up open clash
Sampdoria has found the net in each of their last seven home games, a run which has also seen over 2.5 goals land in each of those seven. We expect that to continue against Milan, especially with the visitors likely to continue their open approach in this one. Our predictions back the goals to continue here, with over 2.5 our first pick in this clash.

Sampdoria has won only three of their last 14 games against AC Milan in Serie A, sharing four draws and losing seven. Milan is unbeaten since returning to action and they’ve won two of their last three on the road. Samp has already lost to four of the top seven at home, so we’re backing a 2-1 away win as our correct score prediction.
