Sassuolo CEO Giovanni confirms Monchu links: We are talking to Barcelona

Carnevali revealed that Sassuolo have been in talks for Monchu since last season.

The Italian also admitted that there's interest from other suitors.

"He is a young boy, we are talking to Barca, it is something we already did last season," Carnevali told Sky Sports.

"We have a good relationship with the Blaugrana and Monchu is a very promising footballer. There is interest but despite that, we can close the operation."

Monchu is reportedly one of the few young talents Barcelona are willing to let go of this summer whether in a loan deal or a sale with a buy-back clause.

The Catalan giants are said to believe that the midfielder has outgrown their youth setup and should taste some top-flight experience.

Monhcu has a lot of offers at the moment and he's likely to depart Catalonia when the transfer window reopens this summer.

The midfielder has bagged 10 goals and three assists so far this season from 29 appearances.
