SPAL vs Inter Milan Preview, Betting Tips and Odds

SPAL vs Inter Milan predictions as Inter aim to secure three points against SPAL side who face the drop from Serie A.

Inter Milan may need to turn their attention to the Europa League in order to land silverware, but Antonio Conte’s men will want to ensure they hold on to second place in Serie A. They have fallen eight points shy of leaders Juve, but both Lazio and Atalanta are battling with them for the runners-up spot.

The former Chelsea boss shrugged off the idea that he’s under pressure at Inter, with his relaxed attitude to being sacked bringing out praise from many of his players. Conte’s Inter is still a work in progress, while he’s already got the club hard at work towards his vision for next season. Despite that, he can send out another message with three points in this week’s visit to SPAL.

Hosts look doomed
A 2-0 loss to Genoa at the weekend has left SPAL seemingly out of the picture in the survival fight. The bottom club is 11 points shy of safety, having picked up only 19 all season. They are heading for the second tier, with only six games left to play their relegation is likely to be confirmed any day now.

The hosts have only themselves to blame, having lost five of their last six games. They’ve been beaten in 23 of 32 league matches, while they have both the worst home and away records in Serie A. Having lost 10 times in 15 home matches it’s no surprise that SPAL is massive outsiders for this clash, while we’re siding with an away win in our predictions.

Milan to cruise to the points
Inter Milan have won 12 of 15 meetings with SPAL, while they have a brilliant away record behind them. The Nerazzurri have won 10 times on their travels in 15 games, including six wins in eight against the sides in the bottom 10. We have little doubt that Inter can win this one has seen them score 19 times in seven Serie A outings since the restart, but their defence remains a worry.

Inter have seen both teams score in seven of their eight games since returning to action. They’ve conceded in 80% of their away trips, while 67% of their matches on the road have seen over 2.5 goals scored. This one looks set to go the same way, as SPAL have conceded 58 goals in Serie A this season and they are only one goal away from equalling their worst record in a single top-flight campaign (59 in 2017-18).

Milan to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored is our pick, given that it has landed in eight of their 10 away wins this season. Meanwhile, we’re backing a 3-1 win for the high-scoring visitors as our correct score prediction. Inter have seen both teams score in 73% of their away trip, while they’ve won by at least two goals in six of their away victories.
