Swansea City vs Bristol City Preview, Betting Tips and Odds

Swansea City vs Bristol City predictions ahead of this Championship clash on Saturday.

Last chance for Swans
After conceding an equaliser to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, Swansea has been left with a mountain to climb in order to make the playoffs this season. With Cardiff three points clear of them and likely to wrap up a comfortable final day win over Hull, the Swans need to see off Bristol City and hope for a Middlesbrough win against the Bluebirds, or their promotion hopes are over.

The Swans have made a surprising push for the playoffs this term, but they’ll be disappointed to miss out at the expense of their Welsh rivals. They have a chance to reel Cardiff back in, but first, they need to edge out a Bristol City side who were in the running for the top six themselves.

Bristol City steady the ship
The visitors are two points shy of Swansea and they effectively surrendered their hopes of finishing sixth with a 1-1 draw against Stoke this week. However, it’s not all doom and gloom for the Robins. They had already blown their playoff hopes effectively after their nine-game winless run, which saw Lee Johnson lose his job. Dean Holden has straightened the ship, leaving positives ahead of next season.

While the Robins will be looking forward to a stronger future after links to some impressive names in their manager-search, they can finish on a high this term. Bristol City has been a streaky team for the last couple of seasons, while they head into this clash on the back of taking seven points from their last three. Having hit two goals per game under their caretaker boss, we expect them to add to an impressive scoring run on the road that has seen them find the net in 82% of their trips.

Defensive woes to punish Swans
While Swansea dropped two vital points in their last game, their real missteps have come at home. They’ve dropped too many points at the Liberty this term, including a disappointing 1-0 loss to Luton here since the restart. The problem for the hosts is their defensive record, which has seen them concede in each of their last six matches.

Meanwhile, Bristol City is searching for their first clean sheet in 14 games. While they are impressing up top, we aren’t back their defensive form to turn, especially against one of the league’s hottest strikers. Since making his league debut for Swansea in January, only Saïd Benrahma (12) has netted more goals in the Championship than Rhian Brewster (9). Our first prediction here is to back both teams to score on Saturday, having seen it land in four of Bristol City’s last five matches.

Meanwhile, the Swans have won just twice in seven at home, while Bristol City’s results have picked up. We’re backing a 1-1 draw as our correct score prediction, which would end any hopes the hosts have of making the top six.
