Swansea City vs Leeds Team news, Betting Tips and Odds

Swansea City vs Leeds predictions ahead of this Championship clash on Sunday. Can the Championship leaders take another step towards promotion?

Swansea won at Birmingham in midweek to boost their hopes of finishing in the top six, but it’s hard to see them winning the playoffs. While they have got into a great position, the Swans have won just once at home to the sides above them. Aside from beating sixth-placed Cardiff here, the Swans have lost six and drawn twice with the top six along with their surprise win at Leeds.

Following their late victory at Elland Road back in August, Swansea is looking to complete the league double over Leeds United for the very first time in their history, only managing to win consecutive matches against the Whites once before, in April and August 1953. However, given that poor record against the top sides, we’re going against the hosts in our predictions here.

Symbolic clash for Leeds
The visitors returned to the top spot on Thursday night as they hammered Stoke 5-0 at Elland Road, putting Marcelo Bielsa’s men a step closer to promotion. They come into this game six points clear of third, with just four games left to play. The Premier League is just two victories away for Leeds – even less if the chasing pack slip up. Can they claim a vital three points here?

Leeds United haven’t beaten the Swans away from home since April 1964, so it’s quite a tall order. However, that success did come under the watch of Don Revie, on way to winning the second tier and promotion that season. A victory here would put them on the same path, so can the visitors secure three points and add to Swansea’s problems in big games?

Visitors peaking at the perfect time
After failing to win in their first four league away games in 2020 (D2 L2), Leeds have won three of their last four on the road in the Championship (L1), winning 3-1 at Blackburn last time out. They’ve scored eight times across those four matches, while they’ve found the net 12 times across their last four league games. With 10 points from a possible 12 in that run, Leeds are on course to secure their top-flight place before long.

Meanwhile, Swansea was beaten by Luton in their first home game since the restart. Having lost three of their five home clashes with top-six sides at home, we’re backing another defeat for the Swans here. We’re going with a Leeds win in this encounter, while a 1-0 victory for the visitors is our correct score prediction.
