We knew Real Madrid would win trophies without Ronaldo: Modric

Luka Modric has revealed that team has been together ever since ronaldo left and they believe that they can win trophies even without him.

"I must say we were not burdened by the fact he was no longer there," he admitted.

Real Madrid star Luka Modric told Sportske Novosti: "It's pointless discussing how important Ronaldo was for Real, but I must say we were not burdened by the fact he was no longer there in the sense that we weren't able to generate the same ambition.

"We were convinced we'd continue to win trophies even without him because, regardless of the strength of the individual, the team is always above everything."

Cristiano Ronaldo helped Madrid lift its fourth Champions League title but left to join Juventus for a whopping €112m in 2018.

Since then, however, he's been tearing it up in the Serie A for the Turin-based outfit.

Despite his absence, Los Blancos have managed to win the La Liga title this season and will soon resume Champions League action against Manchester City.
