Xavi's side Al Sadd in advanced talks to sign Santi Cazorla

Santi Cazorla is reportedly on his way to join Qatari side Al Sadd. The 35-year-old has enjoyed another impressive campaign at Villarreal, where his contract is up at the end of the season.

On Instagram Live, Al Sadd press officer Ahmad Al-Ansari revealed that talks to bring Cazorla to Qatar are at a very advanced stage.

If he does decide to move to Al Sadd, Cazorla would link up with former Spain teammate Xavi Hernandez, who is the head coach.

This would be a bitter blow for Villarreal supporters, although they would accept any decision the midfielder makes on his future.

"I consider him one of the best players in LaLiga, one of the best people I know and a friend," Villarreal boss Javi Calleja said of Cazorla.

"He's spoken to me about the decision he's made and he'll be the one who tells you about it."He's deserving of a place at the European Championship.

"He's in his best years and all I can do is enjoy his football."
