Barcelona president preparing for his exit: We have to leave everything well prepared

Barcelona president will leave the club next summer and won't run for presidency again. He also saids at no time did he consider quitting as it would've been irresponsible.

The current board are doing extra work to make the power transition at Camp Nou as smooth as possible.

Barcelona are going to hold elections next summer meaning that Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board will leave the club. The president has told Diario Sport that they are already preparing for their exit.

"Next year we have to leave everything well prepared and on track. Now, the negative impact [caused by the pandemic] is huge and we work to lower it.

"We have created a special executive commission to monitor all economic operations in the coming months.

"In 2015, I made a commitment to the club members. There is also a strategic plan in place. It would be irresponsible for the board to leave now.

"There is no one who knows Barca better than those of us here. No one knows the players, the coaches, UEFA, FIFA, RFEF, La Liga better."

It is expected that the current board will leave in June 2021. Bartomeu has already confirmed in the past that he won't run for the presidency again.

However, the board might not make it until next summer as there's a group of club members that look to push a vote of no confidence against the current officials, which could see them leave Camp Nou early.
