Bartomeu backs Setien: At no time have we thought about a change of coach

"At no time have we thought about a change of coach," Josep Maria Bartomeu told Diario Sport when asked on Quique Setien's future at Barcelona.

The president added: "I know some stories came out saying if we didn't win two games we'd change him for [Barca B's manager] García Pimienta but that was never discussed. Neither with Abidal nor with the board. Setien is our coach."

He also dismissed claims Barca contacted a high-profile specialist to replace Setien, saying: "We have not spoken to anyone. Not with Blanc."

Still, Bartomeu conceded he was in touch with Xavi: "I do talk to Xavi because we have a good relationship."

Barca are in danger of ending the 2019-2020 season trophyless, having already missed out on Copa del Rey and La Liga. Multiple reports say that Quique Setien's future at the club entirely depends on the Champions League.
