Carvajal reveals how difficult it is in making friends at Madrid

The right-back has indicated that it was difficult for him to adapt to Madrid after moving from Leverkusen.

Carvajal believes the amount of fight our players put in to earn their stay in the squad means that private life is kept on the sidelines.

Speaking about how it’s not easy to make close personal friends at Real Madrid, Dani Carvajal told Esquire Magazine: “It's not easy to make friends while at Madrid. With no wife/children it was easier at Leverkusen.

“At Madrid everyone is settled & it's such an established club, in which everyone fights so much that there is no time for more and private life is kept on the sidelines.”

To thrive at a club like Madrid, one has to dedicate their entire life into helping the club succeed. If players wants to stay at the best club in the world, they’ll have to be the absolute best themselves.

Carvajal has of course been at the club long enough to develop a close bond with some players, but the elite winning mentality of Madrid players means that personal friendships are always secondary.
