Chelsea Complete £50 Million Signing Of Left-Back Ben Chilwell
Chelsea FC has confirmed the signing of Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell on a deal reported to be around £50 million. The 23-year old left-back will sign for the Blues on a five-year deal ahead of the 2020-21 season.
The ex-Foxes’ star’s signing was announced by the west London club across their social media platforms. Chelsea FC supporters were getting extremely restless in recent days after reports had emerged indicating that the defender was undergoing a medical ahead of a move to the Blues.
Chilwell had always been Lampard’s priority signing at the left side of the defense after it had been confirmed that the Chelsea FC manager was in the market to sign a new full-back for his side. Marcos Alonso and Emerson both had failed to impress Lampard last season at the left-back slot in Lampard’s first season in charge.
The English international was in scintillating form for Brendan Rodger’s Leicester City side that narrowly missed out on a top-four finish in the 2019-20 Premier League campaign. Chilwell’s performances across the league season were hailed by many across England and caught the eye of a number of top clubs in top-flight football.
