Chelsea pre season to take place in UK with friendlies against local opposition

Chelsea are not planning any overseas or long-haul travelling for the preparations for the 2020/21 season, The Telegraph reports.

They are likely to mirror the improvised pre-season they had before the season was resumed in June.

Back then, Chelsea held an intra-squad friendly, as well as played against Reading at their Cobham training base and QPR at Stamford Bridge.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, Chelsea had scheduled a pre-season tour in the United States, but no accommodation ha been booked or paid for in advance, so Chelsea aren't losing money.

The exact starting date of the preseason has not been reported, but with the season set to start on September 12, Frank Lampard will have less than a month to prepare his team for the first game.
