Confirmed: Manchester United to miss' first weekend of Premier League 2020/21 due to Europa League run

Manchester United have chosen to postpone the first game to provide the players with some extra rest.

The club will kickstart the new Premier League season only on matchday two and won't feature in the opening week, reports the Daily Mail.

The 2020/21 campaign is set to start from 12 September but United have been given permission to begin later as the players were involved in the latter stages of the Europa League.

We lost to Sevilla in the semi-final and it was evident that the players needed rest.

Now, they will have an extra week to recuperate before returning to action.

The report adds that a majority of the squad are currently on a two-week holiday but will have to show up for a pre-season training camp at the end of this month.
