'I want to build my squad around Aubameyang: Arsenal Boss Arteta

Arteta believes moments such as lifting the FA Cup could help convince the 31-year-old extend his contract and the captain will commit his future to the Gunners soon.

Mikel Arteta is confident FA Cup glory will have an impact on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his decision regarding a contract extension with Arsenal.

“He knows what I think about him, I want to build a squad around him,” said the Spaniard as cited by The Guardian. “I want him to stay, it’s about getting the deal done.

"I think moments like this will help him to believe we are on the right path and he is a big part of it. He is loved by everyone at the club. I think he will [stay]."

The forward reportedly wants a three-year, £250k-per-week deal and Arsenal seem prepared to give him that.

Given his contribution – he is the most prolific Premier League player since playing his first game for Arsenal back in February 2018 – it would make perfect sense to hand him the deal he wants.
