Inter Milan vs Getafe prediction, Preview and Odds

Inter Milan vs Getafe predictions for Wednesday’s Europa League clash in Gelsenkirchen.

Inter Milan in high spirits
Inter Milan produced a strong display on the final day of the Serie A season to beat Atalanta and edge into the runners up position, missing out on the top spot by just a single point but putting them in fine spirits ahead of the Europa League resumption.

They have now won three on the bounce and kept a clean sheet throughout, and they lost just one of their 14 competitive matches since the restart. Now they jet off to Gelsenkirchen to face a Getafe side that have struggled since returning to action, and our predictions suggest it’s the Italians that will be smiling after this tie.

Getafe struggle to find scoring touch
Indeed, Getafe ended their La Liga season by failing to win each of their last six games, losing on four occasions and slipping down to 8th. This torrid run of form means their only chance of European action next season is to win the Europa League, but that’s looking a mightily tall order now.

The Azulones have won just one of their 11 matches since returning to action in June and their form deteriorated further in the closing weeks of the season. They scored only one goal in their final six matches and conceded seven at the other end, and they now have to face Serie A’s meanest defence.

Inter Milan ended the Serie A campaign with the best defensive record in the league, conceding 36 times over the course of the season and keeping a clean sheet in each of their last four games. Remarkably, this includes 2-0 victories over Atalanta and Napoli, who scored 98 and 61 league goals respectively this season.

I Nerazzurri set for comfortable win in Germany
All signs clearly point to an Inter Milan win, and with Getafe losing three of their last six Europa League outings and struggling badly over the last month or so, that’s exactly what we’re backing on Wednesday.

Getafe’s lack of goals is also a concern, and facing an Inter defence in their current form means the Spaniards are unlikely to find the net. Inter have scored two goals in both of their Europa League games this season and won each of their last two Serie A games by a 2-0 scoreline, so that’s what we’re backing for our correct score prediction.

We’re also opting for a Romelu Lukaku goal. The Belgian striker has scored two goals in two Europa League appearances this season and has netted 29 in 46 for his new club this campaign. Since the restart he has scored six goals in 12 appearances, so he looks the ideal choice to grab a crucial goal here.
