Lewis Dunk close on completing Chelsea £40 move

The Sun, not the most reputable source, to say the least, report that Chelsea are closing in on the deal over Brighton's captain Lewis Dunk.

The defender is expected to cost £40 million and the Blues might face Tottenham's competition in the race for his signature.

The 28-year-old is a life-long Chelsea fan, idolises John Terry and even named his dog Didier.

He was briefly linked with the Blues back in winter when The Times reported that Chelsea approached the Seagulls over the potential transfer.

However, such an out-of-nowhere nature of The Sun's report casts a shadow on the reliability of this news.

Still, Chelsea are indeed in need of defensive reinforcements and the English international might be a decent candidate, given his rather impressive displays in 36 Premier League appearances the past season.
