Multiple sources has confirmed Arsenal Maitland-Niles close to joining Wolves at £20m

Wolverhampton are in advanced talks with the Gunners over the versatile midfielder.

Ains is set to sign a 4-year deal.

The move is expected to be completed this week.

According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Maitland-Niles is on the verge of joining Nuno Espirito Santo's side: "Agreements still need to be finalised on fee and personal terms but Wolves are closing in on the signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal and it’s on course to be completed this week."

Sky Sports confirms this information, saying the Wolverhampton boss wants to strengthen his midfield and full-back options and 22-year-old fits the bill on both counts.

The report says he's expected to sign a 4-year deal with Arsenal pocketing around £20m for his transfer.

The Gunners have put Ains on sale as the club aim to raise funds to bring in additions Mikel Arteta wants to see under his charge. Overall, up to 10 players may leave Arsenal during this transfer window.

Maitland-Niles made 20 Premier League appearances last season clocking 1,382 minutes. Our academy graduate is eager to play more regularly and that seems the main reason for his decision to leave the club.

While the 22-year-old delivered some impressive displays at the end of the last season, he struggled for consistency throughout it.

Mikel Arteta may have wanted to keep him, but since it's Ain's desire to move elsewhere, we can't blame the manager and the club for making a decision to offload the midfielder.
