OFFICIAL: new Barcelona President election date revealed

The presidential elections will now take place on the first matchday after March 15, 2021, not in June as it was originally planned.

Barcelona have confirmed that the presidential elections will now take place on the first matchday after March 15, 2021.

The formal announcement of the elections is scheduled for the end of January 2021.
Initially, the elections were supposed to take place in June 2021.

Mundo Deportivo earlier claimed that March was seen as the least favourable option for the new date of the elections as the team is expected to be fighting in the Champions League at that stage of the season.

As a reminder, Josep Maria Bartomeu is unable to stand for another term.

Victor Font is supposed to be the favourite to take over as Barcelona's president because of his reported plans to bring back both Xavi and Pep Guardiola.

UPDATE: Even though the elections will now take place in March, Bartomeu will stay as president until July 1, 2021.
