Rangers vs St Mirren Prediction,Team news and Odds

Rangers vs St Mirren predictions ahead of this clash in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers chase another three points
Rangers may have exited the Europa League on Thursday night, but they looked solid in a narrow 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. Their year-long run in the competition was something to be proud of, but they have higher expectations for the coming season.

The Gers will return to the Champions League with a top-two finish this season, while they crave preventing Celtic’s 10th successive title. They made the perfect start with their 1-0 win over Aberdeen last weekend. We’re backing them to pick up three points at Ibrox in our predictions here.

St Mirren aren’t much of a threat
St Mirren beat Livingston in their opener, meaning they’ve won back to back Premiership games 1-0. However, they had failed to score in their three previous games before that towards the end of last season. That’s hardly a surprise, given that the Buddies were the lowest scoring side across the division last term.

The visitors also had the worst away record last term, winning just two of 15 games, losing 11 and scoring only 11 times. They lost to nil in three trips to the Old Firm last time, while they head into this clash with a poor record in meetings with Rangers.

Gers have a defence to rely on
The hosts have kept a clean sheet in eight of their last nine matches against St Mirren, while the Gers won all three meetings last season without conceding a goal. They seem to be in that kind of form here, having shut out Aberdeen away last weekend before digging in away at Leverkusen. They went through preseason looking solid, winning four friendlies to nil, including clashes with Lyon and Nice.

We see Rangers securing a win to nil this weekend, with St Mirren still looking short on goals. Meanwhile, we are making a 2-0 home win our correct score prediction.
