Rio Ferdinand list two possible signings that will boost Chelsea squad

Manchester legend Rio Ferdinand says that the Blues did good business by signing Ziyech and Werner early.

However, Ferdinand believes that the team needs to look on the other side of the field to better themselves.

He adds that Chelsea need to sign a strong centre-back and goalkeeper.

Speaking in an interview (quoted by the Metro), Ferdinand said: “I think Frank’s done his work early, that’s good business [signing Werner and Ziyech].

“The players he’s brought in are players that can play and know the level at Champions League football. I think they’re an upgrade on some of the players he’s got.

“Definitely adds competition, but I think now he has to look at the other end of the pitch because that’s an area that when you want to win things, big trophies, which Frank will be wanting to do.

“That’s the demands of that club, the foundations in the centre-half area, goalkeeper have to be strong.”

The former Manchester United centre-back hits the nail on its head - while Werner and Ziyech are definitely signings to take us on the right path, strong defensive signings are what the club needs in order to compete for the biggest honours.

Lampard recognises this problem and we're very sure that we will see fresh faces in the back four before the next season starts.
