Riqui Puig called up to Spain U21 side with 3 other Barcelona youngsters

Barca's starlet could make international debut already next month.

Riqui Puig has been called up for Spain U21's squad for the upcoming U21 European Championship qualifier vs North Macedonia.

The U21 side's head coach Luis de la Fuente said of the Barcelona youngster: "He's grown a lot as a player and could bring a lot of talent and quality (to the team).

He can adapt to the style of football and now it all depends on him. If we've called him up it's because we believe in him and now is the time to show that potential."

Inaki Pena, Pedri and Carles Alena have also made the list.

On Pedri, De la Fuente added: "We are delighted to have such young players available at a higher age group. The most difficult part comes next and we are going to help him."

La Rojita face Macedonia on September 3.
