Smalling to head back to United after Roma failed to reach an agreement
As Roma was not able to negotiate a deal with United to keep him in the Italian capital and that means Chris Smalling will be returning to Man United
AS Roma failed to agree a deal which will keep him on a permanent basis, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The report suggests Roma made an increased bid to sign him but still couldn’t match United’s £18m valuation for the centre-back.
Smalling has most probably played his final game for Roma after having a brilliant campaign in Serie A, where he was one of the best defenders last season.
The Englishman is ‘surplus to requirements’ at Old Trafford and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly has no plans on using him anytime soon.
