Barcelona vs Getafe pre-match press conference: Koeman provides fitness update on Messi, Pjanic and more

Barca travel to Getafe on Saturday.

Koeman appears to be ready to start Messi at the Alfonso Perez as Leo is 'even more tired when he doesn't play'.

Pjanic, who suffered an injury on international duty, could also be involved.

Sergino Dest is likely to start on the weekend as Jordi Alba is not fit yet.

The boss is also 'happy' with what he's seen from Dembele in training.

"Messi to rest? I want my line-up to be the best possible in each game. Messi has returned with great enthusiasm and joy. After training, we will decide the line-up for tomorrow," Ronald Koeman said during the pre-Getafe presser on Friday.

"Messi has been playing a very tight schedule for many years. Besides, he's a player who, if he doesn't play, is even more tired. He's a winner, he always wants to be in the games."

Some reports have suggested that Koeman could rest Leo Messi on Saturday's La Liga clash at the Alfonso Perez but as it appears that's not going to be the case.

Miralem Pjanic, for his part, could feature on the weekend despite missing Thursday's training session due to a heavy blow on his back that the midfielder suffered against Poland earlier this week.

"Pjanić? We'll evaluate him in training today and he could be involved in tomorrow's game," Koeman added.

Koeman went on to say that Sergino Dest is likely to be handed his debut start for Barca on Saturday as Jordi Alba is not fit yet.

"Having Sergino in the team is really good," he said. "The system isn't difficult for him as it is very similar to Ajax's. It is very likely that he will play tomorrow since Alba is injured. He's a great addition and he's also part of the club's future."

Ousmane Dembele could also be given his first of the season against Getafe.

"Dembele? He has a lot of quality and he's physically improving each day. I'm very happy with what I've seen of him in training," the Dutchman concluded.
