Edouard Mendy one clean sheet away from repeating Petr Cech's achievement

Edouard Mendy has become the first Chelsea goalkeeper since Petr Cech to register two clean sheets in his first two Premier League games.

After making his debut in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, the Senegalese held Man United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

In the 2004/05 season, Cech went one step further, though: he did not concede his first Premier League goal until the fourth game, previously keeping at bay Man United, Birmingham and Crystal Palace (even the teams are the same!)

This was the famous season when Chelsea only let in 15 goals - clearly, this year's side won't be able to repeat that achievement.

However, there's hope that the Blues have found a reliable shot-stopper from French side Rennes, just as they did 16 years ago.
