Italian press in love with Barcelona midfielder De Jong: He is On his way to Pirlo and Modric.

Gazzetta dello Sport say that De Jong is the best midfielder in the world.

They praise Frenkie's defending, positioning and his character.

"He was exceptional yesterday against Italy. Without doubt, he's a player of another level," Gazzetta dello Sport write on Frenkie de Jong after his impressive performance against Italy.

"He is the best midfielder in the world. He is on his way to Andrea Pirlo, Luka Modric, and to the greatest. Organization, defence, sense of position and character, [he's got all that]."

Italy and Netherlands drew 1-1, with De Jong putting in a marvellous display. The midfielder has now returned to Barcelona and is expected to star in the upcoming match vs Getafe.
