Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino showers praises on former teammate Coutinho


Firmino and Coutinho played together at Liverpool between 2015 and 2018.

The pair helped Brazil kick off their 2022 World Cup qualification with a 5-0 thrashing of Bolivia on Saturday.

The Liverpool forward remains a huge fan of the Barca man who he rates among the world's best players right now.

"He’s phenomenal," Roberto Firmino said of Philippe Coutinho in an interview with FIFA's official website.

"You simply can’t say that he’s not a magician. He has magical powers. He produces plays that don’t exist, that you couldn’t make up. 

"You always have to watch replays of his plays to understand what he’s done. He’s an unbelievable player. It was a pleasure to play with him at Liverpool, and it’s a pleasure to play with him for the Selecao. 

"I’m a huge fan of his. He’s one of the very best players in the world."

The pair, who played alongside each other at Liverpool between 2015 and 2018, helped Brazil kick off their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 5-0 win over Bolivia on Saturday.

The Liverpool forward and the Barcelona midfielder are now likely to start against Peru on Tuesday night.
