Loaned Real Madrid striker Mayoral reveals Zidane wanted him to stay and Jovic to leave

Mayoral admits he left the club to play more regularly and is happy about the Roma move.
In his official presentation for AS Roma, as quoted by Marca, Borja Mayoral said: "When I arrived at the preseason with Real Madrid, I was going to leave the club quickly, but Zidane wanted me to stay.

"I told him that I had to leave to have more opportunities. I think the club listened to Zidane and that's why he wanted [Luka] Jovic to leave."

Mayoral went on to add: "Everything was done very late, but in the end I called his [Zidane's] office again and told him if he could let me out.

"I thought I would have more opportunities to play and grow with my football. In the end it was done, I'm here and this is the most important thing."

The Spaniard should be excited about his new chapter with Roma on loan but unfortunately for Jovic, the story is not so promising.

He's yet to find the back of the net this season and clearly, Zinedine Zidane does not rate him very highly - even though the Serbian is well-loved by the fans.
