Marc Cucurella take a hit at Barcelona: 'I wasn't able to show what I can do'

The versatile player regrets he couldn't prove his worth to the Catalan club because of the circumstances beyond his control.

The 22-year-old openly admits staying at Barca wasn't up to him to decide.

"Due to circumstances beyond my control, I wasn't able to show what I can do at Barcelona," former Barcelona prodigy Marc Cucurella told Radio Marca.

Still, he appeared to be content with his current situation, adding: "But that has allowed me to develop at Eibar and Getafe.

"Staying in Barcelona wasn't up to me. If I have the chance [to go back] one day... we'll see."

The 22-year-old versatile player spent some years on loans before permanently leaving Barca for Getafe for €10m this year.

Originally a left-back, Cucurella has transformed into a left midfielder.

He has managed 2 goals and 6 assists in 50 games for Getafe after making just one senior appearance for the Catalan giants.

Cucurella will be able to prove his worth against Barca already next week as Getafe host the Catalans in the La Liga on October 17 or 18.
