Marco Asensio has revealed his happiness on Messi staying at Barcelona

Messi will stay at Camp Nou until at least next summer.

The Real Madrid winger appears to be happy with the Argentine staynig in Spain despite saying that he 'didn't care if Messi left or stayed'.

"I didn't care if Messi left or stayed, but it was better for Barcelona that he stayed,” Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio said in an interview with El Transistor before hinting at his true stance on the Argentine staying in La Liga.

“I like playing against the best.”

Lionel Messi handed in a transfer request at Barca in August but the Catalans refused to let him leave. The 33-year-old will stay at Camp Nou until at least next summer when his current contract with the Catalans expires.

Asensio and Messi are set to face each other in the first El Clasico of the 2020/21 season that will take place at Camp Nou on October 24.
