Pique reacts to Barcelona board sacking of Valverde in the middle of the season: 'It did not seem normal to me'

The Catalans replaced Ernesto Valverde with Quique Setien in January.

Barca was on top of the table when Valverde was sacked and went on to finish the season in second under Setien.

Pique didn't get that decision at all.

“It did not seem normal to me to kick the coach out in the middle of the season while leading in the league and also having won the previous two leagues,” Gerard Pique told La Vanguardia of Ernesto Valverde's dismissal.

Barcelona was on top of the La Liga table when the board decided to replace Valverde with Quique Setien in January.

The Catalans went on to finish the season in second, five points behind Real Madrid, and lose 8-2 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final under Setien.
