Revealed: Edinson Cavani rejected offer from Real Madrid and Juventus to join Manchester United

Edinson Cavani rejected moves to Real Madrid and Juventus before joining Man United on a free transfer earlier this month, according to ESPN's Moises Llorens.

The Uruguayan, whose contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired in June, was offered a two-year deal worth €8m per season by Juve.

Cavani, on the other hand, wanted to a three-year contract worth €9m annually.

The numbers of Madrid's offer are unknown but the striker rejected the Whites as well.

If the report is to be believed Edinson was 'immediately attracted' to the Red Devils due to their 'global reach and popularity around the world'.

Llorens is certainly not among top sources but we've rated this piece at 5 stars as United probably were the only club ready to pay €10m+ per season for Cavani and around €10m in agent fees to land the 33-year-old who had missed a vast part of the two previous seasons due to various injury woes.
