Bordas speaks on Messi transfer saga: 'His actions were ugly and wrong but Messi can make mistakes too'

Lionel is a winner by nature and wanted to leave Barca after the 8-2 defeat, the former board member explains.

Bordas slams the Argentine for his actions regarding the €700m release clause.

However, he says he still wants to see Messi happy.

"He is a winner by nature and loves Barca very much. The 2-8 defeat [to Bayern] and performances in previous Champions League draws impacted him a lot. I think Messi got tired and wanted to leave," former Barca director Javier Bordas has told Mundo Deportivo.

"As for me, his actions [regarding the release clause] were ugly and wrong, but Messi can make mistakes too. Luckily, he makes few mistakes on the pitch. Messi wanted to keep winning and thought his time at Barca was over. Now I see a spirited Leo, but he lacks a little more. I would like him to be happy," he added.

It seems like Bartomeu's board won't ever admit their mistakes despite the fans' and the club members' attitude towards them.

Messi's decision to stay apparently depends on who will be the new president. The Argentine was clearly frustrated about the resigned board and didn't hesitate to say it publicly.
