Chelsea boss Lampard on Mount: 'I don't see much of me in him, we have different playing styles'

The manager loves Mount's work ethic.

He's proud of the way the midfielder performed for England.

Lampard is also happy about the academy players coming in and making a name for themselves at the senior level.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea's game against Newcastle United this weekend, Frank Lampard said of Mason Mount (via Chelsea-news): "He tried everything to get into the game, he gave everything. I don’t really see much of me in him. We had different styles but I love his work ethic."

Lampard added: "It pleases me [to see the young players coming in] because of the academy and for the players. These boys are contesting and having to prove why they should be in the team. They have proved it on merit and they are competing to get their place."

Mount had a sensational international break as he had 2 outstanding performances for England and managed to score a goal in their win against Iceland a couple of days ago.

Lampard has previously said that he relies on Mount's energy and his versatility. It would be too early to say that Mount can have as good a career as Lampard did, but the talent and the work ethic is definitely there in the young English international who can be a great player for us in the future.
