Ex-Atletico star Futre: 'I hoped Messi leave Barca to Juventus so that we could see him and Cristiano together'

Paulo Futre says he likes both players and he can't pick the best out of two.

He also says that he really wanted to see Leo at Juventus after the summer transfer saga.

Futre appreciates Messi's decision to stay and wants him to retire at Barca now.

"They [Messi and Cristiano] are two completely different aliens. As a southpaw, I like Messi, but Cristiano is my compatriot. An animal, a phenomenon. It would be unfair for me to say who is best," former Atletico Madrid winger Paulo Futre has said to Mundo Deportivo.

"As a football fan, when the burofax mess happened, I hoped he would go to Juventus so we could see the two of them together. But for me Messi's place is where he is and where he has to end up is at this huge club, Barca," the Portuguese added.

Even when Leo Messi was one step from leaving Barca in August, Juventus weren't said to be among the frontrunners to seal his signature. Instead, Manchester City were more likely to make a move for the Argentine.

As for Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese could reportedly leave Juventus next summer already.
