Ex- Barca player Maxi Lopez: 'At 16 years old, Messi was already making the difference'

Maxi Lopez says that Guardiol and Messi changed the world of football and how people look at it.

The Argentine believes that Barca are going through a transition period just like back in his days.

"When I arrived at Barcelona, Leo Messi was only 16 years old and he was already making the difference. Guardiola's team with Messi in front of him changed the world of football and how we look at it," former Blaugrana Maxi Lopez has told Cadena SER.

Maxi arrived at Camp Nou when the team was going through a transition period and he reckons the same is going on now.

"When I came to Barca, they were in a period of reconstruction, the glory days came later. Now it looks like they are going through a similar process on and off the pitch. And when things aren't good on the outside, it also affects the locker room."

Maxi Lopez's career at Barcelona wasn't the most successful one. He barely played in the first season, was loaned out in the next one, and finally being sold in 2007. He and Messi have played together only two games. Still, they are known to be great friends.
