Font determined to keep Xavi at Barcelona for long to avoid Guardiola mistake

Font says that Xavi's unique skills will allow him to occupy various roles at the club, not necessarily as a coach.

The presidential candidate is afraid of losing the Blaugrana icon to a competitor.

"Xavi has unique skills and can take on different roles within the club's sports structure. We cannot afford to repeat a 'Guardiola case'. 

He’s a unique asset, there are very few like him. It doesn't make sense to lose him to the competitors," presidential candidate Victor Font has said during a live meeting with his supporters.

Font has said several times that Xavi is a central figure in his sporting project at Barcelona. The presidential candidate plans to bring the former Blaugrana midfielder as either coach or general manager while keeping Ronald Koeman in charge.

As for Guardiola, the Catalan coach left the club after four years at Camp Nou. He has recently said that his period at Barca is over.
