Lampard reacts to Chelsea being top of Premier League table

Lampard stated that the result is the most important thing to come out of the Newcastle game.

The Blues manager went on to point out that the season is long and he won't be excited about going top 'for five minutes'.

"We played well, the result is key because the Premier League is tough and relentless. I thought the lads dealt with the challenge today and I’m really pleased," Lampard told BT Sport.

"Sometimes that sort of control can become comfort then we turned the ball over a few times and that was the message at half time.

"It’s pleasing, but I’m not going to get excited about being at the top of the table for five minutes. It's time to stay humble, it’s a long season."

Chelsea's 2-0 win over Newcastle sees them go top of the Premier League for the first time under Lampard.

Lampard achieved and admirable Top 4 finish last season but with the team improving rapidly, anything seems possible this season.
