Presidential candidate Font: Barca will avoid big moves and will turn to La Masia

Font doesn't think any future president would be able to sign either Mbappe or Neymar because Barca have no cash left.

Thus, he believes it would be natural to bet on homegrown talents such as Ansu Fati.

"Whoever comes with promises of big-name signings like Neymar, [Kylian] Mbappe... will not be a very credible promise," Barcelona's presidential Victor Font told Cadena COPE, referring to the club's delicate financial state.

"We are in a situation of almost pre-bankruptcy of creditors. There is no cash to pay [the debts].

"It was not possible to sign Eric Garcia, nor [Memphis] Depay. Adding the salary limits set by La Liga, it is normal that we now put more faith in people from the academy. Ansu Fati, Pedri... it is necessary to go more down this route."

There's no secret regarding Barca's financial state as they confirmed last month they closed the 2019-2020 financial year with a €97m loss while their debt rose to €488m.

Now, the Catalans have to reduce their wages bill by €190m to avoid potential bankruptcy, according to multiple sources.
