Real Madrid boss comment on their win over Inter: 'We played with character and had the right approach'

The Whites put an end to their two-game winless run by beating the Nerazzurri 2-0 on Wednesday.

Even though Madrid's display wasn't perfect, Zidane was left happy with his players' attitude at the Giuseppe Meazza.

“It was an important game, we prepared it well,” Zinedine Zidane told Sky Sport Italia after Real Madrid's 2-0 win at Inter Milan on Wednesday.

“We knew it would be tough, but we played with character and had the right approach.

“I am happy for the players because they are often criticised when our performances aren’t great. You cannot always win in football, the important thing is to give your all every time and that is what we did this evening.

“We want to always play beautiful football and get victories, but it’s not always possible. We played very well last week for 75 minutes and then conceded a goal, people act like it’s a disaster. That’s not how football works. I am sorry for Inter, as they had played well in the first game, but this is football.”

The Whites lost to Valencia and drew Villarreal in the La Liga ahead of their Champions League trip to Italy. Zidane's men managed to end their two-game winless run thanks to goals from Eden Hazard and Rodrygo at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Madrid are set to return to the league action in a home encounter with Alaves on Saturday.
