Suarez speaks on his relationship with Koeman: 'He told me to leave, I told him I had the right to train at the club'

Suarez reveals that Koeman told him about his decision via phone.

Luis had no problem training separately when the technical staff asked him to do so.

Suarez says he respects the coach for the decision he made while Koeman respects Luis for not complaining about the situation.

"We had a professional relationship with him. He told me that I had to leave through a phone call, and I told him that until they find me a new destination, I had the right to train at the club," Luis Suarez has told Diario AS when asked about his relationship with Ronald Koeman.

"I spent three weeks training with the same professionalism that I always show, without looking for an excuse. They sent me to train separately and I did. Koeman understood me because he knew my situation.

"We had was mutual respect, I respect him for the decision he made as a coach and he respects me for being a professional and continuing training without bothering him or complaining about the situation I was going through."

Selling Suarez was one of the first major decisions Koeman made at Barcelona. After six seasons at Camp Nou, the Uruguayan ended up joining Atletico Madrid for free.
