Zinedine Zidane hopeful of Lucas Vazquez's Real Madrid contract renewal

Vazquez is out of contract at the end of the season. He managed to impress in Wednesday's 2-0 win at Inter.

The 29-year-old deserves to be offered a new deal at the Bernabeu, says the Madrid boss.

"He always gives everything for us. I have always valued him and what he gives to us on the pitch," Zinedine Zidane told Movistar+ of Lucas Vazquez after Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Inter Milan on Wednesday.

"Now he is having the opportunity to show us what he is all about. He was a youth player for us and has Madrid in his heart. I'm happy for him and the team.

"He is an important player and the club knows it. I think it will happen that he will renew."

The 29-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, started in each of Madrid's last three Champions League games. He managed to impress in the latest encounter, setting up Rodrygo's goal at the Giuseppe Meazza.
