Ziyech's former coach details how he helped winger get through difficult stage of career

During his time at Heerenveen, Ziyech was not getting a lot of game time and it was a difficult period for the player.

Heerenveen head coach Jansen sat Ziyech down and had a heart-to-heart conversation with him.

The player became very open with his coaches and they helped him get back on track.

“He was once in a difficult time when he was not even playing for the Under-19s [for Heerenveen],” Hakim Ziyech's former youth coach and current Heerenveen manager Johnny Jansen told The Telegraph.

“It was tough, so me and [fellow coach] Jeffrey Talan sat him on the couch and talked to him. The three of us, talking about life. He became very open with us and told us a lot about his life, about what he was feeling.

“He was opening his heart to us, and we were opening our hearts to him. And then you get a good relationship, and you pick him up.”

The Chelsea winger spent 3 seasons with Dutch side Heerenveen - he scored 13 goals in 46 appearances for them.

Ziyech had a difficult childhood as his father passed away when he was just 10 years old. Always supremely talented, the Moroccan international's resilience and his hard work have brought him all the way to the top and we're sure that he's going to help Chelsea win a lot of trophies in the coming seasons.
