Bayern chairman appears to confirm Alaba's exit amid Real Madrid links

David Alaba's contract with the Bavarians expires at the end of the season.

The club have no plans to offer the Austrian a new deal after he rejected the latest proposal, according to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"We had many conversations," Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said of David Alaba's contract situation, as quoted by Marca.

"The objective was always to extend the contract. There was a final meeting and an offer with a deadline in October.

"Our offer was not accepted and our chairman withdrew it. There have been no further talks since then.

"To be honest, we have taken many steps towards his agent [Pini Zahavi] and his father. We have put everything possible into the balance. He just had to accept, but it hasn't happened."

Thus, the versatile defender is set to leave the Bavarians on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the current season.

As per reports in Spain, Real Madrid are leading the race for the 28-year-old, who is also targeted by the likes of PSG, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
