Chelsea boss Lampard confirms Ziyech will not play against Arsenal

Frank Lampard has said Hakim Ziyech needs time to recover since it's a muscle injury, the Blues manager added that they hope to have Ziyech back in a week.

Ziyech was supposed to return earlier this week but Lampard seems keen to not rush the attacker.

"No, he won't be fit for Arsenal," Lampard said during his pre-match press conference.

"It's a muscle injury so we need to wait for it to recover. Not a long-term concern and we hope to have him back in a week or so.

"That's football when players are playing every two or three days.

When asked about Ben Chilwell and Reece James, Lampard said: "They are both doubtful. Can't give an answer. Not sure if fit for either game."

Ziyech suffered a hamstring injury during the game against Leeds and hasn't featured for Chelsea since.

With James and Chilwell both dealing with injuries of their own, Ziyech's return is important for Chelsea's creativity.
