Ex-President Joan Gaspart: I am willing to send the €600 to the RFEF to pay the fine they gave Leo Messi

Joan Gaspart, former Barça President from 2000 to 2003, talks about Messi and Madrid:

Gaspart: "I am willing to send the €600 to the RFEF to pay the fine they gave Leo for showing the shirt, because of the tremendous love I had for Maradona and the love I have for Messi. It is not fair."

Gaspart: "Messi is the best player in the world. He is out of this world and I want him to stay. He will give us many more days of glory, but Barça will continue just like it did when Kubala, Rivaldo left."

❓Do you prefer Madrid being eliminated or playing in the Europa League?

Gaspart: "I prefer that they get relegated to the Segunda."

Gaspart: "The coronavirus pandemic has cost Barça more than €300-400m."

Gaspart is known as one of the best vice presidents of the club (during the presidency of Josep Lluís Nuñez) but one of the worst presidents. He spent all the money taken from the sale of Luís Figo to Real Madrid, buying Emmanuel Petit and Marc Overmars from Arsenal and Gerard from Valencia.[citation needed

Gaspart stepped down as President of FC Barcelona in 2003 with the club's football two points off relegation.

Currently, he is president of the football club UE Sant Andreu from Barcelona and President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (Real Federación Española de Fútbol, RFEF), and was responsible for Mr. Ángel María Villar electoral campaign. Mr. Villar is currently President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, and Vice President of both UEFA and FIFA.
