"He’s not a natural goalscorer and you can see that by his finishing,": Darren Bent reacts to Timo Werner goal drought

Darren Bent has said Timo Werner needs to calm down in front of goal, the former striker added that Werner seems to be snatching at the ball.

Bent also noticed that Werner is panicking, which is leading to his poor performances.

"He’s not a natural goalscorer and you can see that by his finishing," Bent told talkSPORT.

"But because of his movement and his pace he’ll always get opportunities especially the way they play Chelsea.

"He just needs to calm down in front of goal he looks like he’s snatching. He’s so worried about the finish sometimes, he’s losing track of the ball with say his touch for instance.

"With Werner, we’ve seen he can [do it] if you look his goal in the League Cup against Spurs, that was a lovely finish. Came to him, touch out of his feet was nice and the finish was lovely.

"A lot of it is confidence as well. When you’re scoring goals everything you hit goes in and you feel like every game you play you’re going to score.

"Whereas right now, Werner’s probably thinking, ‘Where’s the next goal coming from?’ He’s panicking a little bit."

Werner has failed to hit the back of the net in 9 games now, despite getting a number of excellent chances to score.

The striker hasn't been helped by Lampard, who is yet to play him in his preferred central role on a regular basis.
