Lampard reacts to Everton loss: 'I would not say energy or desire wasn't there, we were just off it'

Frank Lampard gave Everton credit for executing their gameplan well after going in front and the Blues manager added that Chelsea failed to hit the levels they've achieved recently.

Lampard highlighted the lack of quality crossing as an issue against Everton.

"Not our best performance. First 20 minutes were key for me, I knew it was coming, longer balls and second balls for a team needing a win," Lampard told BT Sport after the Everton loss.

"When you go 1-0 down, it absolutely suits their gameplan. We hit the post twice but for our levels and what we have been recent, not good enough.

"I would not say energy or desire wasn't there, we were just off it. The lads are gutted because we were on a good run. If they are going to make it difficult for you, don't concede from a long ball, second ball situation.

"We have been getting down the sides, the quality of crosses has been good and it wasn't today. Credit to Everton.

Chelsea were uninspired in offence, with Havertz struggling on the right wing and Giroud invisible for most of the game.

An off-day for Chelsea's team means that the Blues might fall 5 points behind Tottenham and Liverpool by the end of the gameweek.
