Liverpool youngster Leighton Clarkson reacts to his Champions League debut: 'The stuff you dream of as a child'

The midfielder says that his debut was a memorable night that he and his family will never forget.

Clarkson adds that he had a good first half but wasn't very involved in the game during the second half.

Klopp said after the game that the player has a lot of potentials and will get better with time.

“It’s stuff you dream of as a child obviously, making your Champions League debut, and to do it here and now it’s a special moment for me and my family and it’s one I won’t forget,” Leighton Clarkson told Liverpoolfc.com post-match.

“I thought I did alright. The first half, I thought I was better because we were playing more football and I thought I was getting into the game a lot more and making a few decent passes.

“Then in the second half we weren’t really at it and we were dropping deeper and weren’t really playing possession football, and that’s something to work towards with the games coming up.”

The 19-year-old midfielder started the game against Midtjylland and although Clarkson was not the best player on the field, the teenager had a decent outing in the Champions League and it will be a night he will cherish forever.

Klopp said after the game that the player has loads of talent and will continue to develop as he gets more playing time - we couldn't agree more!
