'Messi only interested in Champions League and La Liga not Money: Laporta

Joan Laporta is convinced that Barca should simply make a 'competitive offer' to keep Leo at the club.

Laporta believes that Messi's decision not to make any future plans until June is a good sign.

"[The club's financial problems and the situation around Messi] are the result of poor management. The situation has worsened due to the coronavirus, but poor management is one of the reasons for such consequences and such difficulties around Leo," presidential candidate Joan Laporta has said, as quoted by Diario AS.

"Both of these issues can be resolved. The situation at the club can be changed, the problem around Leo too, I hope.

"I think that the most important thing Leo has said is that he will wait for the new president and will not rush to a decision. So I guess he wants to hear Barca's suggestions. He will wait until the end of the season. I want to remain positive, so I think this is a very good sign.

"Before I offer Leo something, I must first become the president. It is necessary to assess the capabilities of the club, to understand whether we can make a good financial offer.

"The sporting point of view should also be up to par. Leo doesn't need money, he wants to be at Barca. He wants to win the Champions League and La Liga. This is the key to the solution of the problem. We need to make a competitive offer," Laporta concluded.
